One morning, a few days after the incident in the snow-cave, Sidanyis got up earlier than usual. Stepping out of his house into the cold air, he greeted Haku – who was curled up under a nearby tree, watching him – with a warm smile.
'Hey, Haku,' he said, patting the rook's head. 'You're awake early today.'
Haku blinked at him. So are you, he thought. He didn't know how to say it, but Sidanyis seemed to guess what he was thinking anyway.
'I have a few jobs to do today,' he replied. And when the rook just gazed at him in confusion, he explained: 'I'm a travelling postman, remember? I deliver letters. It's been very quiet lately,
Hatchet was woken up by Death's small, rounded muzzle gently poking against his cheek.
The rook took awhile to wake up, his jaws opening wide in a yawn as Death watched him with her glowing yellow eyes. Morgrim was there too, his eyes narrowed somewhat as Hatchet took his sweet time waking up from the nap. He hadn't flown out here to be forced to wait ten minutes for the person he'd fetched to actually sit up and look at him!

John walked through the forest path, his backpack filled with sandwiches, hiking tools and hope. The spring trees possibly hid something no one had ever seen in history, but legends said it was there. He had traveled a long way from home, just for the opportunity of being there, and getting a remote possibility of discovering the legends were true. As he passed from tree to tree, his eyes looked for a glimpse of a tail, scales or anything.
